July 17, 2012
I am delighted to announce that the first Ocean One Race concluded yesterday afternoon. The sail boats started from the beautiful French island of Saint Pierre and finished just outside the Narrows of St. John's Newfoundland Canada. Winds were light but the weather was sunny and warm. A great race was had by all. Congratulations to the boats skippers, owners and crew. Thank you to Bob McCarthy with The St. John's Port Authority, for the hospitality and trophies. Thank you to the SPYC and Celine Lemoine for the help with the start and friendship from Saint Pierre. Thank you to the OOR committee Ken Ryan, Eddy Howard, David Mitchell, Andrea Rhinelander and Dave Humphries. A special thank you to the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club, Commodore John Walsh, executives and flag officers and RNYC management James Eastman. With out there help this race could not be possible.
